The Nepal national football team is controlled by the All Nepal Football Federation, which was created in 1951. Since 1970 it is a member of FIFA. The team played their first international match against China in 1972. It was a 2-6 loss. Nepal has never qualified for the major tournaments. At the AFC Challenge Cup they reached semifinal in 2006, in 1995 and 2011 they advanced to the semifinals of South Asian Football Federation Cup.
