Juan Francisco Martínez Modesto, more commonly known as Nino, is a Spanish striker playing for CA Osasuna.
His first professional game took place in the season 1998/99 when the player, aged 19, performed for Elche. That season was rather successful as the side won promotion to the Segunda A division. In the following campaign he spent 16 games for his side and scored twice.
During the season 2004/05 he scored a total of 20 goals and two seasons later joined Levante UD in La Liga. He failed to confirm his ambitions in the Valencian club and having netted only once for 19 games he was sent on loan to Tenerife in the Segunda while Levante nearly avoided relegation finishing 15th at the end of the campaign.
During the spell with Tenerife Nino scored 18 times and owing to this he became a second-best striker of the Segunda. When the 2007/08 campaign was finished he signed a permanent three-year deal with the club from the Canary Islands.
During the whole season of 2008/09 Nino managed to net 29 goals thus winning a golden boot and dragging Tenerife to the top flight.
During the next season the striker became the team’s best goal-scorer once again with 14 goals in 38 matches among which a splendid hat-trick against Getafe. Though Tenerife failed to escape relegation from the Primera Nino remained in the top flight signing a 2+1 deal with Osasuna. His first season for the new club the 32-year-old spent on a decent level gaining 36 appearances throughout the season and hitting the back of the net six times.
