Alexander Büttner is a Dutch defender, born on 11 February 1989 in Doetinchem, the Netherlands.
Alexander began his professional career with a prominent Eredivisie side Vitesse in 2008. He became a vital player for the team and made a total of 107 league appearances during a four-year spell. In the summer 2012, Büttner enjoyed a meteoric rise signing for Manchester United in the Premier League. He got off to a flying start at his new team as he assisted the second goal and scored the third in a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic in September 2012. In October, Büttner got a first taste of the UEFA Champions League action in a match against Braga. However, Buttner failed to become a solid back up for Patrice Evra and was sold to Dynamo Moscow in the summer 2014.
Alexander Büttner has played for the Netherlands at U20 and U21 levels.
