Alexander Tettey plays in the position of a defensive midfielder for Stade Rennais FC. He was born on 4 April 1986 in the capital of Ghana Accra.
The player’s youth career started in1999 when he entered Bodø/Glimt football academy. The club is located in Norway where he moved according to one of the migration programs for African people. Over a period of three years Alexander studied at the football academy of Norwegian club. In 2002 he moved to Kolstad academy where he only stayed for a year.
In 2003 Tettey was spotted by Rosenborg scouts. Later he was called up to a tryout at Rosenborg where he participated in the exhibition friendly match. The midfielder impressed the coach staff and they decided to sign a professional contract with him. The player spent the first two seasons in the club periodically appearing in the major squad. Because of the lack of playing practice the club’s management resolved to give him out on loan to Skeid where during the season he participated only in 5 matches.
After the loan spell the midfielder returned to Norwegian club where he appeared in the first team more often. In total for the time spent in the club Alexander featured in 89 matches scoring 12 goals.
In 2009 Tettey received a call-up to Rennes with which he signed a lasting contract. Since 2009 the player has netted 2 goals in over 60 matches with the club. Currently he successfully continues his performance for the French club.
Since 2007 the defensive midfielder has been periodically capped for the Norwegian national football team.
