Ari launched his senior career when he joined Avaí in 2004. In the summer of 2004 Ari moved to Fortaleza. In 2006, Ari transferred to Kalmar for a fee of €1.8 million. During his season there Ari established himself as a first-choice striker, making a total of 35 appearances with his scoring tally of 18 goals for. In 2007, Ari Ferreira was offered a contract with AZ. Ari signed a three-year deal with the club. He wasn’t a regular layer at AZ. And during his spell there until 2010 he made 55 appearances and netted 18 goals.
In 2010, Ari expressed a desire to move to a club, where he would have more playing opportunities. In the winter of 2010, he joined Spartak Moscow for a fee of €3 million. The striker became one of the key players of the starting eleven and spent three years with the club.
In August 2013 Ari joined FC Krasnodar.
From 2005 to 2006 Ari Ferreira was called up to the Brazil U-20 team for 13 matches and netted 6 goals.
