A Spanish footballer David García de la Cruz performs as a defender for Girona. David was born on 16 January 1981 in Manressa.
In 1999, after graduating from the youth academy, García was selected for the B team of Espanyol and his professional career began. He spent two years defending the reserves and got ready to perform for the main squad. In total, David made 31 appearances for the reserve team.
In 2001, the defender earned the promotion to the club’s main squad. At first, he made only occasional appearances, but very soon he established himself as a member of the first eleven. David was supposed to be a very talented player, who soon became the team’s pivot of the defense. Altogether, he scored one goal in 217 matches for Espanyol.
In 2011, after David lost his place in the starting eleven of Espanyol, he opted to move to Girona. The defender wasn’t satisfied with the fact, that he didn’t get enough playing practice and made up his mind to leave the club. A three-year contract was penned with Girona and García joined the new squad. His debut season was lined with 26 appearances made.
On international level, David García de la Cruz made two appearances for the Spain national youth team at U-20 and U-21 levels. In 2004, the defender earned his first call for the Catalonia full side. He’s already appeared seven times for Catalonia.
