Dimitri Payet

Dimitri Payet plays as a winger for Marseille. He was born on 29 March 1987 in the city of Saint-Pierre in France.

The player’s youth career began in 1995 when he joined Saint-Philippe youth team. He starred for the club until 1998 when he moved to JS Saint-Pierroise for a year. In 1999 Le Havre scouts from Ligue 1 arrived to watch tryouts. Dimitri was among those juniors who were offered to study at the club’s academy. In the academy he performed until 2003. From 2003 till 2005 he spent at AS Excelsior academy.

In the summer of 2005 Dimitri started his Nantes career. He represented the club for two seasons until 2007. He periodically participated in club matches thus making 33 appearances and scoring 5 goals.

In 2007 Payet received a call-up from AS Saint-Étienne which he joined on a four-year deal. A young winger was an effective element in the team and over a period of four years he featured practically in all club matches. The player appeared with the team in 129 matches and netted 19 goals.

Since 2011 he has starred for Lille that acquired the player in the summer of the same year for €9 million. Dimitri signed a 4-year contract with the club where he played till 2013.

In the summer 2013 Payet switched for Olympique Marseille.

From 2007 till 2008 Payet 11 times performed for French U-21 international and scored 4 goals. Since 2010 he’s been invited to the France national squad.
