A Portuguese footballer José Edgar Andrade Costa performs as a forward for Nacional. He was born on 14 April 1987 in Câmara de Lobos.
In 1995, Edgar entered the academy of Estreito, where he played for the youth teams for 6 years. In 2001, the young player was scouted by União Madeira, where he spent another 5 years of his youth career. In 2006, the club’s management promoted Costa to the first team. At first, the footballer appeared only occasionally, but within some time he managed to become the team’s pivot. He netted 7 goals in 78 matches for the squad during a three-year stint at the club.
In 2009, Edgar joined the top-flight club Nacional. He had a prominent debut season as he made 5 starts and 9 substitute appearances and scoring twice for the side.
In 2005, Costa was twice called up to play for the Portugal U-19 squad.
