Édouard Duplan is a winger of Utrecht. He was born on 13 May 1983 in Athis-Mons, France.
Édouard’s youth career took off in youth Arcueil C.O. Municipal, from where the footballer moved to Choisy Le Roi after finishing his training. Duplan made 29 appearances and found the net two times for the new club during the 2003/2004 season.
In 2004, the winger penned a contract with the third division side ES Viry-Châtillon and fired three goals in 15 fixtures for the team in the 2004/2005 season.
In the 2005/2006 season, Édouard performed for the Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot, where he often made starts and took part in all major games. The footballer featured in 21 matches and netted three goals for the club during one year.
The following year, Duplan transferred to Dutch side RBC Roosendaal and became the anchor player of the new team almost at once. The management highly appreciated his experience and skills and saw the winger make seven goals in 40 appearances during one season.
Édouard’s impressive performance drew the attention of Sparta Rotterdam, which secured the footballer’s services on a three-year deal. During his first season in the new club, Duplan was mainly used as a substitute, but he managed to clinch a regular place in the main squad the following year. The player took part in 73 fixtures and kicked five goals for Sparta during three seasons.
In 2010, Eredivisie side Utrecht lodged a bid for Édouard and won him over to their side. The footballer featured in 57 games and chipped in 12 goals as of November 2012.
