A Spanish footballer Eduard Albácar Gallego, or simply Edu Albácar, plays as a left defender for Elche FC. Eduard was born on 16 November 1979 in Tortosa, Catalonia.
Albácar’s junior career lasted from 1995 to 1998. During that period he studied at the academies of such clubs as Sant Jaume d’Enveja, EF Dertusa and Gimnàstic. In 1998, the defender signed for La Sénia and his senior career began. In 2000, the footballer moved to Tortosa, where he used to play some years for the junior side. The 2000/2001 season turned to be very fortunate, as Edu made 31 appearances as a member of the starting eleven. His performance was noticed by Espanyol. In 2001, a two-year contract was penned. The footballer spent two years with the reserve team making 27 appearances.
In the summer 2003, Albácar joined Novelda. The 2003/2004 season was lined with 31 appearances. In the summer 2004, a move to Alicante happened. Edu racked up 6 goals in 64 matches. In 2006, the defender was scouted by Hércules. He spent two seasons at the club making 52 appearances. The 2008/2009 season would find Albácar at the disposal of Alavés.
In the summer 2009, Edu moved to Rayo Vallecano. He stayed at the club until 2010 netting two goals in 30 matches. In 2010, the defender was transferred to Elche FC. He’s already made more than 60 appearances for the squad.
