Emanuele Calaiò is a forward for Serie A side Napoli. He was born on January 8, 1982 in Palermo, Italy.
Calaiò started his professional career in 2000 when he signed a contract with Torino. Before that Emanuele had been trained at the Torino academy for several years. In the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons Calaiò was a substitute appearing on a field from time to time. The footballer got into the starting eleven in 20 games and scored 3 goals for two years.
In 2002 Calaiò signed a contract with Ternana, where he kicked 2 goals in 10 matches. Then Emanuele was loaned to Messina, where he took part in 12 games and scored 2 goals. Besides in 2003 he played for Pescara and Torino and then again for Pescara but this time as a permanent member of the team. The 2003/2004 season was a success for Calaiò. He appeared on a field 42 times and scored 20 goals. In the 2004/2005 season he continued to play for Pescara and kicked 6 goals in 19 games.
In 2005 the forward signed a contract with Napoli for three years. During this period Calaiò was the key forward and scored 34 goals in 97 matches. After three successful years in Napoli he began to receive new proposals to join different football clubs. Terms of the agreement with Siena seemed to be more favourable, that’s why Calaiò decided to join this football club. He is the key forward for Siena where he has kicked more than 40 goals in 130 matches for four years. In January 2013 though he was sent on loan terms back to Napoli. After signing a permanent deal with the club he was loaned to Genoa.
From 1998 to 2001 Emanuele Calaiò played for the Italy U-15, U-17, U-18, U-20 and U-21 national teams and scored 13 goals in 23 games.
