Emil Johansson is a left back of Groningen. He was born on 11 August 1986 in Karlskoga, Sweden.
Emil’s career took off in local Karlskoga SK, when the footballer was six. In 1999, Johansson completed a move to Degerfors IF and trained in the academy of the club till 2005, when he was offered to pen his first professional contract. Emil netted four goals in 48 league and six Svenska Cupen appearances during one season.
In 2007, Hammarby IF took an interest in the young footballer and secured his services. Johansson managed to clinch the place of a regular only one year later, took part in 56 fixtures and fired two goals during three seasons. In 2010, Emil joined Molde FK and found the net four times in 31 games during one year with the new club. In 2011, the player left his country in order to seal a deal with Dutch side Groningen.
The footballer was capped for Sweden at every international level starting with U-17. Johansson took part in the 2009 UEFA European U-21 Football Championship and was included into the nominal Team of the Tournament. In 2010, the player received his first call-up to the senior national squad.
