Ghislain Mvom is a defender of Benfica B. He was born on 23 October 1992 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Mvom started his junior career in the homeland where he emerged through the youth system of Fortuna Yaoundé. This Cameroonian academy is one of the best in the country, that’s why the quality of football formation, which is given to juniors, corresponds to the level of education at European football academies. For many years the defender played for virtually all the youth squads which he joined gradually.
In 2009 Mvom was ready to start his football career at a professional level. In the same year he was offered to sign the first contract under which he officially joined Fortuna Yaoundé. During the first season Ghislain sometimes appeared on a football field, however he didn’t manage to become the key defender because the head coach couldn’t charge him with such an important position. In the 2010/2011 season the situation didn’t change, but Mvom received more playing time which favoured his development.
In 2011 Ghislain prompted interest from the Portuguese side Académica which expressed a desire to purchase the defender. In the summer 2011 the clubs reached an agreement, and Mvom moved to Académica on a long-term deal which came into force in July 2011. During one season the Ghislain sometimes got into the starting XI and gained the experience of playing professional football at European level.
In 2012 Ghislain Mvom joined Benfica B.
In 2009 and 2011 Mvom took part in the U-20 World Cup with the Cameroon U-20 national team. Besides, he played in the U-20 African Cup of Nations with the national squad.
