Gökdeniz Karadeniz is an attacking midfielder for Rubin Kazan. He was born on 11 January 1980 in Giresun, Turkey. Gökdeniz spent his youth career at local Trabzonspor. From 1996 to 2000 Karadeniz played for Trabzonspor A2, totaling 23 goals in 90 appearances. Gökdeniz debuted in the first team of Trabzonspor only in 1997, and by 2008 he scored a total of 64 goals for the club.
At Trabzonspor the young Turk was at first used as a defensive midfielder. In 2003 the coaching staff of Trabzonspor moved Gökdeniz closer to the attacking line and made him an attacking midfielder.
In 2008 Rubin Kazan successfully persuaded the Turkish midfielder to move to Tatarstan and signed him on a 5-year deal. The transfer fee amounted to €8.7 million. Gökdeniz did well in the championship of Russia. He scored two goals against Zenit in the third round. Then the Turkish midfielder helped Rubin to win 7 matches in a row. In 2008 Rubin sealed the Russian Premier League title three rounds before the end of the championship.
In 2000 Karadeniz was invited to play for Turkey U-21. On 30 April, 2003, he was invited to the national team of Turkey and played against the Czechs. 5 years later, in 2008, Gökdeniz was included in Euro 2008 national team. There the midfielder won 3 caps. The Turkish team was able to reach the semifinals of Euro 2008, and became bronze medalists. 2008 was undoubtedly the most successful year of Karadeniz’s career.
During his career, Gökdeniz Karadeniz became twofold winner of Turkish Cup and Russian Super Cup.
