Hakan Şükür is a Turkish retired footballer, born in 1971 in Adapazarı, Sakarya Province. He came through the youth system of Sakaryaspor and when he was 17 years old he was promoted to the first team. He spent three years in Süper Lig with the team and then moved to Bursaspor. He played for them during two seasons and signed for Galatasaray in 1992. In his first season with the team they won Turkish League and Cup titles. The following season they won Süper Lig again and in 1995 Şükür switched to Serie A side Torino. He stayed in Italy for half a season and then returned to Galatasaray. They went on to win four consecutive Turkish League titles and in 1999/2000 claimed UEFA Cup victory. He was named Turkish League Top Scorer in 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99.
In 2000/01 he spent a season and a half at Inter Milan, in 2002 he had a spell at Parma and in December 2002 he moved to Blackburn Rovers. In 2003 he re-joined Galatasaray and played for the Turkish team until 2008. He helped them to win Süper Lig in 2005/06 and 2007/08.
Hakan Şükür earned 112 caps for the Turkey national team since his debut in March 1992 and till his retirement in October 2007.
