Chilean midfielder Luis Antonio Jiménez was born on 17 June 1984 in Santiago.
Luis embarked on his professional career at his hometown side Palestino in 2001. But having played only 9 matches for the club, he moved to Italy where he spent most of his career. Jiménez began with Serie B side Ternana Calcio amassing 25 goals in 88 league appearances for the club during a four-year stint. After relegation of Ternana to Serie C1, Jiménez signed a loan deal with Fiorentina in 2006. Since 2007 till 2009, he played for giants Inter on loan from Ternana. Chilean midfielder scored his maiden goal for Nerazzuri in the extra time of the Champions League match against Fenerbache. In the 2009/10 season, he found himself on loan at the English side West Ham United and then had two more loan spells at Parma and Cesena. In the summer 2011, Jiménez signed a permanent deal with Al-Ahli from the UAE Pro-League.
Since 2004, Luis Jiménez is capped to the Chile national team. He cut a brilliant figure in June 2005 assisting Marcelo Salas' historic 35th goal making him Chile's top scorer ever. In 2006, the midfielder was awarded the Chilean Player of the Year title.
