Matthew Amoah is a striker of Heracles. He was born on 24 October 1980 in Tema, Ghana.
When he was 15, Matthew moved to the Netherlands and started his football career in the academy of Vitesse. The footballer performed for various youth squads of the club during three years before he was offered to join the main team. Amoah’s professional début came on 15 November 1998 in the match against Utrecht. The striker’s first season was not very fruitful, and that is why he was sent on a six-month loan to Fortuna Sittard. The player made positive attacking display by netting ten goals in 15 games and returned to his parent Vitesse. The 2002/2003 season was the most successful in Matthew’s career, as he found the net 15 times in 30 fixtures. All in all, Amoah featured in 174 matches and fired 62 goals for the club, thus getting on the list of top 11 Vetesse’s scorers.
In the winter 2006, Matthew finalized a move to Borussia Dortmund, but returned to the Netherlands after 17 appearances and inability to get on the scoresheet.
In 2007 the footballer sealed a deal with NAC Breda, where he amassed 43 goals in 103 games during four seasons and a half. On 5 September 2011, Amoah penned a two-year contract with Turkish side Mersin İdmanyurdu SK, but the deal was rescinded after his first season, as the striker took part only in five matches and did not score.
At the beginning of 2011, the player put pen to paper of a four-and-a-half year contract with Dutch side Heerenveen, where he performed until 2013. Then he switched for Heracles.
