Paul Breitner is a retired German footballer, born in 1951. He began his professional playing career at Bayern Munich in 1970 and played for them until his move to Real Madrid in 1974. He stayed in the Spanish club till 1977 and helped them to win La Liga in 1974/75 and 1975/76. Then he had a season at Eintracht Braunschweig. Between 1978 and 1983 Breitner played for Bayern Munich and then retired. Throughout his two spells at Bayern Munich the team were Bundesliga champions in 1971/72, 1972/73, 1973/74, 1979/80 and 1980/81. In 1970/71 and 1981/82 they won DFB-Pokal titles and in 1973/74 claimed European Cup victory.
Paul Breitner was capped for the West Germany national team 48 times and was a part of the team winning UEFA European Football Championship in 1972 and FIFA World Cup in 1974.
After retirement he has worked as a TV pundit and newspaper columnist. He became an advisor at Bayern Munich in 2007.
