Paulo Machado is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a midfielder for the top-flight Greek Superleague club Olympiacos. He was born on 31 March 1986 in Bairro do Cerco, Portugal.
Paulo began his football grooming at a Portuguese side Padroense in 2001 and went on at Porto youth system. In 2003, Machado signed his first professional contract with Porto but played exclusively for the reserve squad in his debut season. In between 2005 and 2009, he played on loan at such clubs as Estrela Amadora, União Leiria, Leixões and the French side Saint-Étienne. Overall, Machado made a total of 101 appearances for the temporary clubs. In 2009, he signed a permanent deal with Toulouse where he scored 12 goals in 89 games during a three-year spell at the club. In the summer 2012, the player joined Olympiacos where he plays till the date.
Paulo Machado was an international for Portugal at various age levels. He won the UEFA Euro 2003 with U17 team and was part of the U21 squad during the 2007 UEFA European Football Championship. Since 2010, he is capped to the senior Portuguese side.
