Rajiv van La Parra is a midfielder, born on 4 June 1991 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The footballer has dual citizenship – Dutch and Surinamese.
Rajiv began to play football at the age of eight, when he joined the academy of Feyenoord. La Parra perfected his skills during nine years and made good progress, which was not left unnoticed, as in March 2008 he drew the attention of English side Chelsea and Manchester United and French side Lens and Cannes.
The footballer did not hesitate to pen a four-year contract with Cannes on 19 June 2008. Rajiv made his professional début on 8 November 2008 in the home Ligue 1 match against Le Havre. La Parra made 69 appearances and found the net six times during three seasons and a half in France.
The management of the club did not extend the midfielder’s contract, and he decided to search for a new place in the Netherlands. Rajiv trained with AZ during several weeks, but sealed a deal with Heerenveen, where he continues to perform at the position of a winger and wears number 7 shirt. The player made his first appearance for the new club on 11 September 2011 in the home 3-0 victory over F.C. Groningen. Three months later, La Parra netted his first goal for Heerenveen in the home 5-1 victory. Rajiv featured in 19 games and fired three goals during his first season with the club. After three years with Heerenveen La Parra moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In 2008 the footballer was called up to the Netherlands national U-17 squad for the European U-17 Championship hosted by Turkey and took part almost in every match during the tournament, but his team lost 2-1 to Spain in the semifinals. La Parra was also capped for the U-19 and U-21 squads.
