Richie Wellens is a midfielder of Doncaster Rovers. He was born on 26 March 1980 in Moston, England.
In 1999, Richie graduated to the main squad of Manchester United after two years in the academy of the club. The footballer penned his first senior contract with ‘The Red Devils’, but did not manage to come on the pitch for the team.
In 2000, Wellens sealed a five-year deal with Blackpool, where he made 191 appearances and amassed 16 goals during his spell. The midfielder was the pivot of the club, whose absence in the starting line-up was regarded as something supernatural.
In 2005, Oldham Athletic secured Richie’s services and saw the footballer score eight goals in 87 fixtures during two seasons.
In 2007, Wellens completed a move to Doncaster Rovers and netted nine goals in 86 matches for the new club during two years, which showed his workmanship once again. In 2009, the midfielder transferred to Leicester City and amassed an impressive 129 appearances for the side.
In the summer 2012, Richie put pen to paper of a loan contract with Ipswich Town, where he made seven appearances during one month.
Since 2013 the midfielder has featured for Doncaster Rovers.
