A Spanish footballer Ricardo Álvarez Puig, also known as Richy, performs as a defender for Girona FC. Ricardo was born on 11 September 1984 in Vigo, Galicia.
In 2003, after graduating from the youth academy of Areosa, Richy signed for Celta B. He spent four seasons playing for the reserves. He tried to do his best to be noticed by the head coach and to be promoted to the club’s main team. The footballer didn’t get this chance until 2008, when he was once let on the field as a member of the main squad of Celta. But he didn’t get further opportunities to play for the starting line-up and returned to the B team. Puig stayed with the reserves until 2009, amassing 15 goals in 154 matches.
In 2009, the defender’s contract was bought out by Córdoba. The player stayed at the club until the summer 2011. Richy made 44 appearances and scored two goals during the spell.
In the summer 2011, Puig was transferred to Girona FC. His debut season at the club was lined with 10 appearances made.
