Roberto Rosales is a back of Twente. He was born on 20 November 1988 in Caracas, Venezuela.
Roberto’s career took off in local club Caracas, when he was 18. The footballer spent one season with the main team, but did not manage to make any appearances.
On 30 May 2007, the player penned a two-year contract with Belgian side Gent. Rosales made his senior début on 14 July 2007 in the Intertoto Cup match against Irish side Cliftonville. At the end of his first season, the back took part in the finals of the 2007/2008 Belgian Cup. The following season was one of the most fruitful for Roberto’s career in Belgium. On 14 November 2008, the player netted his first goal in the game versus Westerlo, which did not help his team in a 3-2 loss though. The following year Rosales became one of the pivots of the squad and lifted the Belgian Cup. The footballer featured in 63 matches and fired five goals for the club during his spell.
In July 2010, Roberto penned a three-year contract with Twente, where he continues to perform at the position of a right back and wears number 15 shirt. Rosales made his first appearance for the new club on 21 August 2010 in the away 3-0 victory over Vitesse and lifted the Johan Cruijff Shield and the KNVB Cup in his début season. The footballer featured in 57 matches and found the net two times during two years.
The back’s international début came on 28 March 2007 in the friendly 5-0 win over New Zealand. In 2011 Rosales participated in the Copa América, played in every game and took fourth place with his national squad.
