Sercan Sararer Osuna was born on 27 November 1989 in Nuremberg, Germany. Despite his birthplace, Sercan has dual citizenship – Spanish and Turkish.
Sararer’s youth career took off in the academy of 1 FC Röthenbach, where the young midfielder trained and played till 2000. At the age of 11, he joined the SpVgg Greuther Fürth youth system and has been playing for the club ever since. Having progressed through all the youth levels, in 2006 Sercan became a player of Greuther Fürth’s reserve team where he earned 41 appearances and scored 11 goals. In 2008 the footballer penned his first and so far the only professional contract with the Cloverleaves. Sararer’s pro-football début came on 19 October 2008 in the match versus TSV 1860 München. He opened his account with Greuther Fürth a few weeks later in the match against Mainz 05, firing the winning goal. After several appearances for the team, Sercan established himself as a regular starter. Since 2008 to 2013 Sararer had played 108 games and scored 20 goals for the club.
After Greuther Fürth had been relegated from the top flight Sercan was offered to join Stuttgart.
Despite his dual citizenship, the player was called up to the Turkey national team only. His first senior cap came on 24 May 2012 in a friendly encounter versus Georgia, which ended in a 3-1 win.
