Serdar Tasci is a German back of Turkish origin. He was born in Esslingen am Neckar, in the federated state of Baden-Württemberg. Serdar is the World Cup 2010 bronze medalist.
Tasci was born and brought up in West Germany in the family of Turkish emigrants. He started playing football at youth teams of SC Altbach and Stuttgarter Kickers. In 1999, at the age of 12, Serdar moved to Stuttgart youth academy, where he was gaining experience until 2005, when he joined Stuttgart’s reserve team. The naturalized German delivered 3 goals in 30 appearances for the second team. In the 2006/07 season he progressed to the club’s first squad. Tasci made his senior debut with Stuttgart on 20 August 2006 in a 3-2 win over Arminia Bielefeld. He opened his account with the Swabians a week later in a 1–3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. In August 2009 the footballer was named the new captain of Stuttgart. In 2007 Serdar Tasci won the German championship with the Reds. After seven successfull years with Stuttgart Tasci accepted the offer from Russian club Spartak Moscow in 2013.
Due to his Turkish origin, the German had the right to represent either Turkey or Germany, but he decided to compete for Germany. Serdar debuted for the national U-21 squad on 6 February 2007 in a 2–0 win versus Scotland. His senior national debut fell on 20 August 2008 in a 2-0 victory over Belgium.
