Stefano Mauri is an attacking midfielder for Lazio. He was born on 8 January 1980 in Monza, Italy.
Stefano’s professional career started in 1997 after he had signed for his alma mater Brugherio. During his debut 1997/98 season Stefano made 23 appearances and scored 10 goals.
The next year Mauri joined A.C. Meda on a long-term contract. From his debut season at the new club Stefano became a regular with occasional bench starts caused by squad rotation system. For 3 years the Italian midfielder made 82 appearances and scored 12 goals for Meda.
In 2001 Stefano moved to more demanding Modena. At the new club Mauri didn’t get an opportunity to become a regular, making only 34 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
In 2003 Stefano Mauri agreed to sign a good contract offered by Italian Serie B Brescia. In the 2003/04 season the attacking midfielder made 30 appearances and scored 7 goals for Rondinelle.
After a bright season at Brescia Stefano became the object of Udinese Calcio attention. The clubs quickly agreed on transfer terms and in 2004 Stefano officially joined Serie A Udinese. During 2 seasons at the new club Mauri made decent 48 appearances and scored 5 goals.
In 2006 Stefano moved to his current S.S. Lazio. Highly experienced Mauri became a regular and midfield mainstay at once.
As part of Lazio squad, Stefano won Coppa Italia 2008/09 and Supercoppa Italiana in 2009.
Since 2004 Stefano Mauri has been capped 11 times for the Italy national team.
