A Portuguese footballer Tiago Miguel Baía Pinto is currently playing for Rio Ave. He was born on 1 February 1988 in Porto.
In 2000, Tiago entered the youth department of Benfica, where he performed for the U-13 team. In a year, the defender was drafted into the academy of Sporting, where he spent the last 6 years of his junior career. In 2007, a first professional contract was signed. But hardly had Pinto joined the main squad, when he was loaned out by Olivais Moscavide. The time spent with the temporary team was very fortunate for Tiago, as he managed to feature in every club’s fixture, making 36 appearances and scoring 2 goals. In 2008, the defender was sent on loan to Trofense, where he appeared 18 times and scored one goal during a season. In the summer 2009, Braga brought out his contract from Benfica. But there he didn’t get many opportunities to reveal his talent. Tiago had to content himself with trainings only. That’s why, when in 2010 Rio Ave offered him a contract, he took the proposal without hesitations. There he got more playing time. In 2012, Pinto was loaned out by Deportivo de La Coruña. At first he joined the reserve team, but in a year was promoted to the first squad. In 2013 he went on loan to Racing Santander.
In 2006, Tiago earned his first call for the Portugal U-19 team. From 2008 to 2009, he played for the Portugal U-21 team.
