Tommy Smith is a back of Ipswich Town. He was born on 31 March 1990 in Macclesfield, England.
Tommy’s career took off in the academy of North Shore United, from where the footballer moved to the youth system of Crewe Alexandra. However, Smith spent last years at the junior level in the academy of Ipswich Town, where he got ready for a professional start and developed into a promising player.
In August 2007, the back penned his first senior contract with ‘The Tractor Boys’, but was sent on loan to Stevenage half a year later. Tommy made 15 appearances for the team during six months and returned to his parent club, where he continued his occasional performance. In 2010, the footballer went on loan to Brentford and took part in eight fixtures during his spell. In 2011, Smith sealed a temporary deal with Colchester United and featured in six matches before returning to Portman Road. The back made 82 appearances and found the net seven times for Ipswich Town as of January 2013.
From 2007 till 2008, Tommy was capped one time for the England national U-17 squad and three times for the U-18 team. From 2010, the footballer has taken part in 20 games and contributed one goal for the New Zealand national squad.
