Troy Perkins is an American goalkeeper currently playing for Montreal Impact in MLS. He was born on 29 July 1981 in Springfield, the USA.
Troy grabbed the ins and outs of football at South Florida Bulls and Evansville Purple Aces where he played as a youth in between 2001 and 2003. In the 2002/03 season, he also featured for the senior side of Cape Cod Crusaders amassing 22 games in the debut season. In 2004, Perkins joined D.C. United and shortly became a first-choice goalkeeper. Overall, he made 77 appearances for the club during his three-year stint. He was named the best MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2006 and helped the team to win the MLS Supporter's Shield in 2007.
In 2008, Perkins moved to Norway to join Vålerenga for two seasons. He pulled off his debut season as the Norwegian Cup winner. All in all, the American goalkeeper made a total of 53 league appearances for the club. Then, after a short spell at his former side D.C. United, Perkins joined Portland Timbers where made 51 appearances for the 2011/12 season. In the summer 2012, he signed for Montreal Impact.
Troy Perkins is capped to the United States men’s national soccer team since 2009. He made his international debut in a match against Sweden in January 2009.
