Vegar Eggen Hedenstad is a Norwegian defender currently playing for SC Freiburg in the German Bundesliga. He was born on 26 June 1991 in Elverum, Norway.
Vegar spent his youth career at his hometown club Elverum. He made his professional debut for the club aged only 14 thus establishing himself as the youngest ever player at the first team. Hedenstad enjoyed a meteoric rise signing for the Norwegian top-flight side Stabæk in 2008. He made his Tippeligaen debut against Strømsgodset in June 2008. Though he made only three appearances for Stabæk in his debut season, a young player became part of the team who won the Norwegian title that year. Overall, Hedenstad made 94 appearances for Stabæk during a four-year stint. In 2012, he moved to Germany where he joined Bundesliga side SC Freiburg and plays for them today.
Vegar Eggen Hedenstad featured for Norway at various youth levels from U17 to U23. In January 2012, he earned his first full cap in a friendly match against Denmark.
