Yohan Tavares is a centre back of Chievo born on 2 March 1988 in Tours, France.
Tavares launched his senior career at Le Mans in 2007. In order to earn experience and improve his skills, the player was sent to the reserve team. Throughout the season Yohan frequently appeared on the pitch in the starting 11, as well as a sub, registering a total of 13 appearances.
In the summer of 2008, the Portuguese club Beira-Mar made an offer on the acquisition of Tavares. For some time the sides discussed the details of the transfer and in July it was announced that Yohan signed a long-term contract with Sport Clube Beira-Mar. During the 1st season at the club, the defender made a handful of starts. In the following seasons he was regularly seen in the starting line-up.
In 2010 Tavares had a 1-year loan spell with A.A. Avanca where he earned only 3 appearances.
On his return to Beira-Mar, Yohan started to appear on the pitch regularly, and also in the starting eleven which helped him acquire enough practical experience. In 2012 Tavares agreed to the contract with Standard Liège where he played in just three matches. After a brief loan spell at Estoril his services were secured by an Italian outfit Chievo. However, he remained at Estoril for the season.
