Apollon Limassol is a football club in Cyprus, located in Limassol. The sports club Apollon Limassol was founded in 1954 and in October 1955 the football team was included in the Cypriot Football Association and began to compete in the second division.
In 1957 they won promotion to the top flight and since then they haven’t relegated. Till 1964 they Apollon was a mid-table team but in 1965/66 and 1966/67 they won two Cypriot Cup titles. Since then the team had a period of ill success lasting for fifteen years. In 1982 they were runners-up in the domestic cup tournament and won it in 1985/86 at the expense of APOEL.
The period of 1990s was a glorious one. Under the management of the German head coach Diethelm Ferner Apollon was crowned with the league title in 1990/91 and 1993/94. In 1991/92 the team won the Cypriot Cup. Since the beginning of the new millennium the team was the Cup holder in 2000/01 and 2009/10, in 2006 they won their first ever Super Cup and in 2005/06 they claimed the league title victory.
Their home ground is Tsirion Stadium, which has a capacity of 13,331. Apollon share it with AEL Limassol and Aris Limassol.
