Ashdod is an Israeli football club that appeared in 1961 after a merger of Hapoel Ashdod and Maccabi Ironi Ashdod. The team is considered to be a relatively small side with a limited budget, but despite that the side competes in the top flight for a number of seasons.
In the season 2004/2005 Ashdod reached the third place in the top flight, thus qualifying to the UEFA Cup. The same season the club progressed to the final of the Toto Cup.
The nickname of the team is the Dolphins. The home ground is Yud-Alef that can hold up to 8,200 football fans.Jacky Ben-Zaken is a chairman of the club.The official colors of the side are red and yellow (combination of those used by the merged teams).
