Chippa United is a football club in South Africa, located in the township of Cape Town, Nyanga. The team’s owner is Chippa Investment Holdings, which is security and cleaning company.
Chippa United was founded in 2010 when an entrepreneur Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi bought Mbekweni Cosmos club and thus began to play in Vodacom League. In their very first season they won the Second Division Western Cape Stream and Second Division National Play-offs. That success drove them to the promotion to the National First Division.
Their home ground is Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, it was built in 1972 and currently is used by Chippa United and Santos Football Club, its capacity is 30,000.
