MFK Košice is a football club in Slovakia. It was established in 1953 and was initially named Spartak VSS Košice. The team had successful periods in 1970s and 1990s. In 1970/71 they runners-up at the Czechoslovak First League, in 1972/73 they won the Slovak Cup. Since then they won the domestic cup in 1979/80, 1992/93 and 2008/09.
In 1996/97 and 1997/98 Košice won Corgoň Liga, in 1990s they thrice were runners-up. In 2000s the team had mixed success, they were relegated in 2002/03 and won promotion winning the Slovak League Second Division in 2005/06.
Štadión Lokomotívy v Čermeli, where MFK Košice play their home games, has a capacity of 9,000.
The team’s best performance in Europe was in the 1997/98 Champions League, when they reached the Group stage. There they faced Manchester United, Juventus and Feyenoord and lost all the matches.
