A retired Croatian footballer Igor Štimac has 53 caps for the Croatia national team and appeared in the 1998 FIFA World Cup championship when the team finished third.
Stimac started his senior career in Hajduk Split and in 1995 he moved to England where spent four seasons in Derby County and made 84 appearances. In 2009 he was announced the most popular Derby County team player by the Derby Evening Telegraph readers.
In August 1999 he transferred to West Ham United and during his two seasons in the club he had 43 appearances.
Stimac returned to Croatia for one season in Hajduk Split in 2001 after what he finished his playing career.
He started managerial career with Hajduk Split in 2005 then had a short spell with Cibalia, after that he headed Zagreb from 2009 till 2010.
In July 2012 he was appointed as the head coach of the Croatian national team and guided the team to qualification play-off to the World Cup 2014. However, after missing the chance to finish first in the group and conceding to Belgium, Igor Štimac resigned from the national squad in October 2013.
