Alan Dzagoev is an attacking midfielder of Ossetic descent who defends the colours of CSKA Moscow. He was born on 17 June 1990 in Beslan, Soviet Union.
In 2006 Dzagoev signed for Krylia Sovetov-SOK. On 29 April 2006 he celebrated his professional debut in the game against Tyumen. During his 2006/07 spell at the club he made 37 appearances and netted 6 goals. In 2007 Alan sparked interest of the CSKA Moscow scouts, and the club landed Dzagoev. He made his debut for CSKA as a substitute in a game against Luch. A few games later, he was inserted into the starting eleven for the match against Khimki, managing a goal and two assists. Dzagoev made his mark in the demolition of Spartak Moscow, making 3 assists and thus helping CSKA to crush Spartak 5-1. Since then he established himself as a first-team regular. Thank to his eye-catching performance in the Russian Premier League 2008, Alan Dzagoev was named the best young footballer of the year.
In 2009 the media speculated that Dzagoev was angling for a move away, and a number of top English clubs were showing interest in his services. However, Dzagoev denied the rumors and vowed to commit his future to CSKA Moscow. During his 2007-2012 spell at the club Alan made over 100 appearances and managed to score 29 goals.
On 11 October 2008 Dzagoev made his international debut for Russia in the 2010 World Cup qualification match against Germany. On 8 October 2010 he clinched his debut goal for Russia in the Euro 2012 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland. On 8 June 2012 Dzagoev netted two goals in the Euro 2012 match between Russia and the Czech Republic.
