Andrey Tikhonov is a retired Russian football player. He was born in 1970 and at the age of 9 was invited to join the local team Vympel Korolyov. He did military service and then returned to Vympel and then had a short spell at Titan Reutov. He was scouted by Spartak Moscow in 1992 and in his first season with the reserve team he made 23 appearances and scored 22 goals. Since 1993 he was the first team regular. Tikhonov played for Spartak until 2000 and during that period the team won 8 Russian Premier League titles, in 1994 and 1998 they claimed Russian Cup victory. He was named Russian Footballer of the Year in 1999.
Then he played for Maccabi Tel-Aviv for a short period and then signed for Krylia Sovetov Samara, where he played until 2004. Between 2005 and 2007 he stayed with Khimki, then had short spells at Krylia Sovetov, Lokomotiv Astana, Khimki and retired in 2011. Tikhonov made 29 appearances for the Russia national team.
