An American-born Salvadoran footballer José Arturo Alvarez Hernandez plays for Paços de Ferreira. He was born on 28 June 1985 in Houston, Texas.
His professional start happened in 2003, when Arturo signed a contract with San Jose Earthquakes. He played for the club during a year and a half, making 26 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
In January 2005, the footballer’s contract was bought out by FC Dallas. A new contract was penned for a term of the three following seasons. In total, Alvarez appeared 86 times and scored 11 overall goals for the team.
In 2008, the player was welcomed back to San Jose Earthquakes, where the following two seasons would pass. Arturo made 54 appearances and netted 11 goals. In the summer 2011, a transfer to Real Salt Lake was made. The footballer spent only half a year with the new club, making 16 appearances as the team’s starter. In January 2012, Alvarez opted to join Paços de Ferreira. He managed to make a good start in his new team. Now he continues to perform for the squad.
Arturo Alvarez used to be the representative of United States national youth team at U-17, U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels. In 2009, he became a member of El Salvador national team. He’s already featured in more than 20 squad’s fixtures.
