Celso Ortiz is a midfielder of AZ. He was born on 26 January 1989 in Asunción, Paraguay.
Celso’s career took off in local Cerro Porteño, where he made his début on 20 August 2008 in the away match against La Paz, which ended in a 2-1 victory. The footballer made 24 appearances and fired five goals during his spell with the club.
In the summer 2009, AZ took an interest in the Paraguayan player and offered him a contract. Ortiz accepted the offer and joined the new squad in January 2010. The footballer was given number 26 shirt and began to train with the main team at the position of a left midfielder. Celso’s début for AZ came on 7 February 2010 in the away 2-1 win over Rotterdam side Feyenoord. The player’s first goal came on 20 November 2010, when his club celebrated a 2-1 victory over Twente.
Ortiz featured in 17 matches and found the net one time for Alkmaar Zaanstreek during his spell. The midfielder was capped for the Paraguay national team and was invited to take part in the U-20 World Cup match against Egypt on 28 September 2009, which ended in a 2-1 victory.
