Christian Schulz is a German defender, born on 1 April 1983 in Bassum, West Germany.
He began his football grooming at a hometown club TSV Bassum at the age of 6. In 1995, a young hopeful joined SV Werder Bremen and came up through all the youth ranks of the club.
From 2001 till 2005, Christian appeared mostly for the reserve squad, but made his Bundesliga debut against FC Nuremberg in February 2003, subbing in for injured Ümit Davala. His maiden goal wasn’t long in coming: it was scored on 23 October 2004.
With Werder Bremen, a promising German defender made a fine start in the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League, overall amassing 23 Eurocup matches. In August 2007, he was signed by Hannover 96 where, as for August 2012, he scored 13 goals in 130 games for the club.
Christian Schulz had three caps for the Germany national team in the 2004/05 season friendlies. In 2007, he had to baulk at an international cap because of injury concerns. However, Schulz was called up to the national squad again on 11 August 2010 in a friendly against Denmark, where he appeared on the pitch for 12 minutes.
