A Chilean footballer Claudio Andrés del Tránsito Maldonado Rivera plays as a defensive midfielder for Corinthians. He was born on 3 January 1980.
Claudio started his professional career in 1998, after a pro contract had been penned with Colo-Colo. He came from the club’s youth department. His debut season was lined with winning the title in the 1998 Chilean First Division. During the Sydney Olympic Games his squad took the Bronze medal.
In 2000, the footballer moved to Brazil, where he started performing for São Paulo. Together with the team he was twice honored with the title in São Paulo State League (2000 and 2002). In 2003, a move to Cruzeiro happened. Maldonado won Minas Gerais State Leagoe two times (2003 and 2004) and was awarded with the 2003 Copa do Brasil during the spell with the Brazilian club.
In 2006, the midfielder returned to São Paulo, where he was groomed during the next two years. Over that period he twice became the winner of São Paulo State League (2006 and 2007). In 2008, a move to Fenerbahçe happened. Claudio made only 17 appearances for the Turkish club. In 2009, a long-term contract was signed with Flamengo. The player was honored with Taça Guanabara and Taça Rio in 2011. In 2013 the Chilean joined Corinthians.
In 2000, the footballer got his first call for the Chile national team. Before this had happened he used to represent the Chile national squad at U-17 and U-23 levels.
