A professional footballer Anderson Luís de Souza, aka Deco, operates as an attacking midfielder for Fluminense. He was born on 27 August 1977 in São Bernardo do Campo.
Deco started trying his hand at professional level in 1996, when he signed for Corinthians. He spent a year with the club and in 1997 moved to Benfica. But hardly had Anderson entered the squad, when he was loaned out by Alverca. The 1998/1999 season would find the midfielder serving loan to Salgueiros. In total, he made 12 appearances for the temporary team.
In 1999, a long-term contract was penned with Porto. Together with the team Deco was trice the winner of The Taça de Portugal. In the 2003/2004 season, the midfielder helped Porto to reach the 2004 UEFA Champions League Final. He was also awarded with the title of the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year.
In 2004, a move to Barcelona happened. The 2004/2005 and the 2005/2006 seasons were lined with the team’s getting two more titles in La Liga. Deco was named the best player of the 2005/2006 season. And in 2006, the midfielder netted two goals in the Spanish Supercup, which Barcelona won.
In 2008, Anderson signed for Chelsea, where he was groomed during 2 years. In total, the footballer netted 5 goals in 42 appearances for the club.
In 2010, Deco opted to join Fluminense. He’s already featured in more than 30 club’s fixtures.
From 2003 to 2010, the footballer performed for the Portugal national squad, making 75 appearances and amassing 5 goals.
