Doni Marangon is a retired goalkeeper. He was born on 22 October 1979 in Jundiaí, Brazil.
Doni began his football career in 2011 by signing his first professional contract with Botafogo-SP. He was a player of the Brazilian club only for a half year before being offered to move to one of the best Brazilian clubs Corinthians.
From 2001 till 2003 Doni was a first-choice goalkeeper of the new team and made 59 appearances for it.
In 2004 Marangon transferred to Santos, where he did not take part in any matches and that is why it was decided to sell the keeper.
From 2004 till 2005 Doni Marangon continued his career in Cruzeiro, but he was only a second-choice goalkeeper and made few starts, playing in six matches of the season.
In 2005 Doni went to Juventude, where he made 20 appearances during half a year. However, the goalkeeper played for the last Brazilian club in his career only till the summer 2005, when he was offered to move to Europe.
In the summer 2005 Italian side Roma placed a bid for Marangon. After the transfer fee and all details were discussed, Doni signed a long-term contract with the club and became the main keeper of the team. He took part in all matches of the club from 2005 and stood between the posts of Roma during six seasons from 2005 till 2011, making 148 appearances.
In 2011 English side Liverpool looked for a reserve goalkeeper and Doni’s candidature fitted them perfectly. Besides, the Italian club put the keeper on transfer. The English team paid €1.5 million for Marangon and signed a contract with the footballer, according to which he continues to play for ‘The Reds’. In 2013 he was released from the Reds and moved back to Brazil to join Botafogo. Soon Doni retired from professional football.
From 2007 Doni has taken part in ten matches of the Brazil national team.
