A Brazilian footballer Elano Blumer plays for Grêmio. Blumer was born on 14 June 1981.
Elano started his career with Santos, debuting for the first squad in 2001, after he’d graduated from the academy of Guarani. He played an essential part at Santos giving the club many assists in winning the title in the Série A two times (in 2002 and 2004). He finished the spell with 34 goals from 129 appearances.
In 2004, after exceptional performances the footballer transferred to the Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk. At first, Blumer wasn’t a first team constant, but he managed to win his place in the main squad the following years. He became the holder of the 2005 Super Cup and gained to league titles during the 2004/2005 and the 2005/2006 seasons. Altogether, the player appeared 49 times scoring 14 goals.
In 2007, Elano was snapped by Manchester City for a transfer fee of £8 million. Soon the footballer proved to be an integral part of the team, where he remained until 2009. In total, the player racked up 14 goals in 62 matches.
In 2009, a move to Galatasaray happened. Elano debuted for the Turkish side in August 2009 in a match with Levadia Tallin. He made starts in 29 appearances and netted two goals during the spell.
In 2011, the player opted to rejoin the former side Santos. Elano continued to display solid performances, winning three further titles under the club’s flag. He became the champion of the Campeonato Paulista two times (in 2011 and 2012) and also won the 2011 Copa Libertadores. Also in that season, the footballer was voted the Campeonato Paulista’s top scorer and the Best Campeonato Paulista’s midfielder. In 2012, the footballer’s contract was bought out by Grêmio.
In 2004, Elano gained his first call for the Brazil national squad. His team won the 2007 Copa América. In 2009, the footballer was selected for the FIFA Confederations Cup. His squad came out with a victory. Elano was also invited to represent the Brazil full side at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. But the player managed to make a single appearance being sidelined with the injury.
