Engin Baytar was born on July 11, 1983 in Gütersloh, West Germany. He played at the youth squad of Gütersloh FC from 1996 and in 2000 the young winger was transferred to Arminia Bielefeld II. Engin’s professional career started in 2004 at Maltepespor, where he stayed for two years and scored 2 goals in 29 appearances.
From 2006 till 2009 the footballer performed for Gençlerbirliği. He made his debut for the team on February 19, 2006 in a match against Konyaspor. On August 26, 2006 he made his first Süper Lig goal in a game against Ankaraspor. In early 2009 Engin Baytar was loaned to Eskişehirspor. At the beginning of the season of 2009/2010 he was transferred to Trabzonspor and won the 2009/2010 Turkey Cup and the 2010 Turkey Super Cup. Over those two seasons Engin Baytar made 3 goals in 38 matches.
On August 2011 the winger singed a 2-year contract with Galatasaray for €1.1 million and put on the number 50 jersey. His first goal for the team was scored in a match against Sivasspor.
