José María Gutiérrez Hernández is former Spanish footballer. He was born in 1976 in Torrejón de Ardoz. Guti is a product of Real Madrid youth system and after graduating he played for C and B teams. His first team debut came on 2 December 1995 in a 4-1 victory over Sevilla FC. He played for the team until 2010 and throughout that period Real Madrid claimed three UEFA Champions League titles, in 1997/98, 1999/2000 and 2001/02. The team won five La Liga titles, four Spanish Supercups, in 1998 and 2002 they won Intercontinental Cups and in 2002 they were UEFA Super Cup winners. While playing for Real Madrid Guti faced a threat to be replaced several times, he played as a striker or midfielder.
He moved to Turkey signing for Beşiktaş on 25 July 2010 and played for them until he was released on 15 November 2011. Guti helped the Turkish team to win the domestic cup in 2010/11.
He made 13 appearances for the Spain national team and as a part of the youth teams he won the UEFA U18 Championship in 1995 and UEFA European U21 Football Championship in 1998.
