Hajime Hosogai is a Japanese defender currently playing for Hertha Berlin in the German Bundesliga. He was born on 10 June 1986 in Maebashi, Japan.
Hajime embarked on his professional career with Japanese giants Urawa Red Diamonds in 2005. He was an emergency full back for five years at the team amassing 98 appearances throughout his spell and recording the AFC Champions League title in 2007. In 2011, Hosogai left for Germany where he signed for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. However, he made his Bundesliga debut playing for Augsburg on loan. It’s a tidbit that Hosogai scored his maiden goal against Bayer in September 2011. The Japanese returned to Bayer ahead of the 2012/13 season.
At the end of the season Hajime joined newly promoted Hertha Berlin.
Hajime Hosogai got his first cap to the Japan national team in a match against Paraguay in September 2010.
