Iago Falque Silva is an attacking midfielder of London side Tottenham, playing on loan for Rayo Vallecano. His native town is Vigo, Spain.
Iago started to play football when he was ten and joined the Real Madrid academy in 2000. In six months the midfielder moved to the Barcelona academy and spent seven years there. In 2007 Falque was included in Barcelona B. He played only one game, but got on the scoresheet. A lot of European clubs took interested in the player straight away, but Juventus was the most active and signed Iago in the summer of 2008.
On 30 August 2008, the midfielder signed a four-year contract with ‘The Old Lady’. On 6 December the same year, the player received the call-up to the new club’s match against Lecce, which was on the fifteenth Serie A matchday. However, the footballer did not come on the pitch. On 25 August 2009, Iago went on loan to Bari, but he never joined the first team, playing for the youth team of the temporary club. On 29 July 2010, the Spanish player returned to his mother country, joining Villarreal B on loan. The contract was signed with the right of further redemption. Iago made 36 appearances for the new club and netted 11 goals, but despite such good results, the management did not use the redemption clause and Falque went back to Turin on 30 July 2011.
On 25 August 2011, Iago went on loan again, this time to English side Tottenham. The footballer made his debut for the first team on 15 September, when he took part in the game against Greek side P.A.O.K. that was held in the framework of the UEFA Europa League. Later Falque continued to perform in the UEFA Europa League matches, making four more appearances. On 16 January 2012, Spurs bought the Spanish player from ‘The Old Lady’ and the following day he moved to Southampton on loan. On 23 January, the midfielder made his first appearance for the temporary team in the Championship match against Leicester City. Besides, Iago made start and was substituted after 56 minutes of the game. In 2013 Iago joined Almeria on loan terms. In the season 2013/2014 he played on loan with Rayo Vallecano.
