Jay Tabb is a midfielder of Ipswich Town. He was born on 21 February 1984 in Tooting, England.
In 2000 Jay ended his youth career after graduating from the academy of Crystal Palace and was offered to join Brentford on professional basis. Tabb accepted the offer and penned a contract with the club, which was later extended, so the midfielder’s spell in ‘The Bees’ footed up to six years. The footballer made several appearances for Brentford during his first three seasons, but he had to gain more experience so that to become a real pro.
In 2003 Jay left his parent club for the first time after completing a loan move to Crawley Town, where he spent a part of the season. After the footballer returned to Brentford, the head coach gave him more playing time in the starting XI and let Tabb on the pitch 128 times just to see him netting 20 goals.
In 2006 the midfielder was offered a move to Coventry City, penned a contract with the new club and joined the main team. Jay’s début season was very fruitful for him, as he soon became one of the pivots of the squad and scored 11 goals in 95 games during three years.
In 2009 Tabb transferred to Reading. The footballer featured in 89 games for ‘The Royals’ during four years.
In 2013 he served a loan spell at Ipswich Town and once it was completed signed a permanent deal with the club.
From 2005 till 2006, Jay was capped seven times and contributed one goal for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 team.
